Brazilian Falls
We will meet you at Iguazú airport and transfer you to your hotel. We depart from the hotel and cross the International Bridge “Tancredo Neves” (Puente de la Fraternidad) that joins the cities of Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) and Foz do Iguazú (Brazil). Here, at the crossing of borders, we have to go through customs at both sides of the bridge. The Iguazú National Park (on the Brazilian side) is 185.000 hectares long. We immediately get into the buses that take us to the 1.200 metres trail over the Iguazú River. At this point, we get a panoramic view of the Argentinean falls, ideal to take pictures. As we go on, we can see Río Iguazú Canyon, Salto Rivadavia and Tres Mosqueteros. We will get to Devil’s Throat lower viewpoint, 200 metres away. This beautiful scenery is enhanced by permanent rainbows. The tour ends at Salto Floriano where an elevator takes us to the bus parking. The other option is to walk the path and up the stairs to the meeting point.
Parque Das Aves
A private Bird Park immersed in the jungle, where we will take a guided one hour walk to sight the colourful South American species: toucans, parakeets, macaws, flamingos and birds from diverse jungle habitats. The Parque das Aves is located in the outskirts of Iguassu National Park. Visitors follow a trail and observe many of the different species of birds of the region. The Parque das Aves has a special area for butterflies. Trained guides explain the mysteries of the surrounding forest and its inhabitants. The objectives of this park are reproduction of endangered species, environmental education and eco tourism. It covers an area of 16 hectares of subtropical forest. The visitor follows a 1.000 metres long and winding path through the forest, in which the aviaries have been located. We will enter in the huge aviaries where one comes into close contact with the birds, having the opportunity of photographing and observing the Brazilian birds at close range. The Bird Park has 1,000 birds of 150 species, including subtropical species of Africa, Asia, and Australia. One large aviary contains butterflies and humming birds. An additional attraction is the reptile area, the caiman lake with the mixed population of fish, caiman and turtles, which surrounds the monkey island. When we finish this visit, we return to the hotel.
Argentinean Falls
The tour leaves from the hotel to visit the Argentinean side of the Iguazú Falls, 67.000 hectares long, located within Iguazú National Park, one of the first protected areas of America. They are made up of 275 falls thundering down from a 70 metre average height. In this section of the rainforest, a huge variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies can be seen while walking plus the diversity of native species this Park has to offer. In our way to Estación Central, we will take a train to Estación Cataratas and/or Estación Garganta del Diablo. As we walk along the 1.200 metre trail, we enjoy the most spectacular fall: Devil’s Throat. We walk on Upper Circuit: 800 metre trail raised above the ground surface, so as not to block or scare away our local fauna as they we by. In this circuit, the waterfalls from the upper part of Dos Hermanas, Bosetti, Bernabé Méndez and M’Bigua among other waterfalls can be observed. Then on Lower Circuit: 1.600 metre trail walk, above the ground surface, with a view from the bottom of Dos Hermanas, Alvar Nuñez, San Martín, Bosetti and Peñon of Bella Vista waterfalls. From Peñon we get a view of Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) and Cañón del Rio Iguazú inferior.
The Great Adventure
This tour offers an exciting adventure within Iguazú National Park and in Lower Iguazú River. It is divided into 2 parts: first, the sailing on the semi-rigid boats to reach the bottom of San Martin, Bosetty, Tres Mosqueteros and Cañon de Garganta del Diablo falls and down the river rapids up to Puerto Macuco (3 kms from the Waterfalls); then, an 8 km ride in a special truck along the rainforest, observing the local flora and fauna with the aid of specialized guides. You can start this tour by boat and then walk, or the other way around.
